DUMAGUETE CITY – Mayor Felipe “Ipe” Remollo, along with Councilor Petit Baldado and City Administrator Lelani Ramon, led the send-off of 51 Dumagueteños bound for Yeongdong-gun, South Korea, as part of the city’s successful Seasonal Worker Program.
The workers will have the opportunity to earn competitive wages, gain valuable work experience, and immerse themselves in Korean language and culture. This initiative continues Mayor Remollo’s efforts to provide meaningful employment opportunities to Dumagueteños while strengthening international partnerships.
The program is not just about jobs—it’s about opening doors for Dumagueteños to learn, grow, and improve their quality of life. The city is committed to expanding these opportunities so more Dumagueteños can benefit.
The Seasonal Worker Program has already transformed the lives of many local workers, allowing them to support their families and return home with new skills that enhance their employability. With its ongoing success, the city government is looking to establish similar agreements with other international partners.
Families and loved ones gathered at the City Hall grounds to bid farewell to the departing workers, wishing them success in their journey abroad. The program remains a testament to Dumaguete City’s commitment to providing sustainable employment opportunities—moving beyond temporary aid and toward long-term economic empowerment.
