Dumaguete’s Milo Marathon Leg: A Testament to Sports Tourism Excellence

No event is too big or challenging to succeed when the right people come together with careful planning and coordination. The Dumaguete leg of the Milo Marathon, a qualifier for the national championship set to take place in Iloilo later this year, stands as the biggest running event the city has hosted in recent memory.

This milestone was made possible through the collaboration of Milo, RunRio Inc., and the City Government of Dumaguete, with the invaluable support of volunteers, dedicated event crews, and city personnel. Key agencies, including the Traffic Management Office, the City Tourism Office, and the Philippine National Police, played vital roles in ensuring a smooth and successful event.

The Milo organization has expressed its gratitude to Dumaguete’s city officials, led by Mayor Felipe “Ipe” Remollo, for their support and leadership in making the marathon a success. By hosting one of the country’s largest and most prestigious running events, Dumaguete has once again proven itself worthy of its title as a Top Emerging Sports Tourism Destination.

Looking ahead, the dream is to bring the Milo National Championships to Dumaguete next year—an opportunity to further cement the City of Gentle People as a premier hub for sports tourism.
