Third Batch of Dumaguete Seasonal Workers Arrive in South Korea under Sisterhood Program
YEONGDONG-GUN, SOUTH KOREA — Fifty Dumagueteños have officially arrived in Yeongdong-gun, South Korea, as part of the Seasonal Worker Program facilitated by the Lupad Administration of Dumaguete City. This marks the third batch of local workers deployed this year through the city’s sisterhood agreement with Yeongdong-gun.
The program, which provides employment opportunities abroad for qualified residents, is a direct result of the strong partnership between Dumaguete City and the South Korean municipality. It aims to give Dumagueteños access to higher-paying jobs, allowing them to better support their families back home.
Mayor Felipe “Ipe” Remollo, whose administration has championed sustainable livelihood programs over temporary assistance, emphasized that the city is committed to creating long-term employment solutions for its people.
More batches of workers are scheduled to depart in the coming weeks and months, as the partnership continues to thrive.
City officials expressed their best wishes to the new batch, encouraging them to embrace this opportunity and bring pride to Dumaguete.
“Good luck and make us proud!”
