The tectonic earthquake occurred at 12:37:52 PM, located at coordinates 15.08°N, 122.07°E—approximately 28 kilometers north 23 degrees east of Burdeos municipality in Quezon province. The quake originated at an extremely shallow depth of just 1 kilometer beneath the surface.
Minimal Ground Shaking Recorded
PHIVOLCS instruments detected only Intensity I shaking in General Nakar, Quezon—the weakest level on the earthquake intensity scale, typically not felt by people and detected only by sensitive seismographic equipment. No other areas reported feeling the earthquake.
No Threat to Residents
PHIVOLCS officials stated they expect no damage from this earthquake and do not anticipate aftershocks to follow. The shallow depth and moderate magnitude posed no significant threat to communities in the affected area.
The earthquake did not impact Negros Oriental or other provinces in the Visayas region, located hundreds of kilometers south of the epicenter.
