Two foreign nationals from Tajikistan were taken into custody by Philippine law enforcement during a coordinated counterterrorism sweep in Marawi City, Lanao del Sur on April 17, 2026, the Philippine National Police Public Information Office announced.
Both detainees, identified as 22-year-old males, were apprehended at their rented residence in Barangay Lomidong during an operation spanning from 2:35 PM to 4:20 PM. The enforcement action was carried out under a Bureau of Immigration mission order targeting undesirable aliens.
The mission was authorized by PNP Chief Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., with the foreign nationals now placed under Bureau of Immigration custody for processing and legal disposition.
