The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) successfully organized the “Run with Her 2026” on March 21, 2026, at Camp Aguinaldo, Quezon City. The event, spearheaded by the AFP’s Gender and Development Office, aimed to champion women empowerment, promote community wellness, and raise funds for victims of gender-based violence. Approximately 1,500 participants, including military personnel and civilian partners, joined the run.
The “Run with Her 2026” carried the theme: “Serbisyo at Takbong Alay ng Sandatahang Lakas Para kina Juana at Juan Tungo sa Kapayapaan at Maayos na Kalusugan.” According to the AFP, this translates to: “The Service and Run Offered by the Armed Forces to Juana and Juan Towards Peace and Good Health.”
AFP’s Commitment to Inclusive Service and Nation-Building
The AFP highlighted that the event reflects its continued commitment to inclusive service and nation-building. The initiative recognizes the vital roles of both women and men in achieving sustainable peace and development. By bringing together military personnel and civilians, the “Run with Her 2026” fostered a sense of unity and shared responsibility in addressing gender equality and promoting overall well-being.
Colonel Xerxes A. Trinidad, Chief of the Public Affairs Office of the AFP, released a statement emphasizing the significance of the event in line with National Women’s Month. The AFP’s Gender and Development Office worked to ensure the event aligned with the goals and spirit of this national observance.
Proceeds to Benefit Victims of Gender-Based Violence
As a Run for a Cause, the proceeds generated from “Run with Her 2026” will be donated to selected charitable institutions and non-government organizations (NGOs) that provide support and services to women and children who are victims and survivors of gender-based violence. This financial aid will enable these organizations to continue their crucial work in providing safe havens, counseling, legal assistance, and other essential resources to those in need.
The AFP emphasized that this initiative underscores its role not only in national defense but also in humanitarian efforts and social responsibility. By actively supporting organizations working to combat gender-based violence, the AFP aims to contribute to creating a safer and more equitable society for all Filipinos.
Enhancing Community Solidarity Through Shared Activity
Beyond raising funds and promoting awareness, “Run with Her 2026” served as a platform for strengthening community solidarity. The event provided an opportunity for individuals from diverse backgrounds to come together, engage in a healthy activity, and demonstrate their support for women’s empowerment and well-being. Participants included active and retired military personnel, government employees, students, and members of the general public.
The atmosphere was filled with camaraderie and positive energy as participants ran, walked, and cheered each other on. The event featured various activities, including warm-up exercises, a fun run, and a closing ceremony with awards and recognition for outstanding participants and supporters. The shared experience fostered a sense of unity and purpose among all those involved.
AFP’s Ongoing Efforts in Promoting Gender Equality
The “Run with Her 2026” is just one of the many initiatives undertaken by the AFP to promote gender equality and women’s empowerment within its ranks and in the broader community.
