BAGUIO CITY – Cadets from the Philippine Military Academy’s “TALANG DANGAL” Class of 2026 successfully concluded their territorial defense training mission at Pag-asa Island in Kalayaan Municipality, Palawan on April 6, 2026, representing a pivotal moment in their preparation for military service and national security responsibilities.
This deployment to the West Philippine Sea outpost constituted the capstone activity of the First Class Cadets’ Officer Preparatory Course and On-the-Job Training program. The mission provided essential operational experience while reinforcing their comprehension of territorial sovereignty and defense obligations.

Brigadier General Nelson C. Aluad, PA, serving as Commandant of Cadets and Mission Leader, oversaw the cadets’ transportation aboard BRP TARLAC (LD 601) to reach the island destination. The operation benefited from extensive coordination among various military units, including support from the Philippine Fleet, Western Naval Command, AFP Western Command, and the Philippine Navy.
