The Buglasan Festival 2026 Field Presentation and Showdown Competition lit up the Gov. Mariano F. Perdices Memorial Coliseum in Dumaguete City on the night of Friday, October 16, 2026, drawing contingents from across Negros Oriental in an elaborate display of costumes, props, and choreography.

The evening showdown followed the afternoon streetdancing competition and was scheduled to begin at 6:00 p.m., according to the festival program published by Dumaguete.com. Results had not been announced at the time of writing.

Bais City Letters, Vegetable Sets and Neon on Stage

The BNNO field team, which photographed the presentations from inside the coliseum, documented multiple contingent productions built around distinct visual identities and thematic props.

One presentation was staged in front of large “BAIS CITY” letter props, with performers dressed in farmer-style costumes and traditional salakot hats. Another contingent built its production around oversized vegetable props including eggplants, cabbages, carrots, and leafy greens, with performers in matching costumes, some lit with neon accents.

Illuminated “DUMAGUETE CITY” letter props glowed during a separate presentation, while another contingent performed beside oversized musical-note props and piano-key backdrops, with performers dressed in white-and-gold gowns. A “BUGLASAN FESTIVAL NEGROS ORIENTAL” barrier lined the performance area throughout the competition.

Part of the 11-Day Provincial Festival

The showdown is one of the signature competitive events of the Buglasan Festival 2026, an 11-day provincial celebration running from October 15 to 25, 2026. The festival carries the theme “Different Stories. One Aspiration. One Negros Oriental,” according to the festival program published by Dumaguete.com.
