Major General Joey A. Escanillas, Commander of the 3rd Infantry (Spearhead) Division (3ID), led the ceremony. He was joined by Brigadier General Ted B. Dumosmog, Commander of the 303rd Infantry Brigade, and Lieutenant Colonel Eric Alfonso, Commanding Officer of the 79IB.

The event, described as a “simple ceremony,” took place in Bacolod City. Both soldiers are members of the 79IB’s Mobile Community Support and Sustainment Program (MCSSP) Team.

Details of the Escalante City Encounter

The soldiers were wounded during an armed engagement with a local armed group in Sitio Bautista, Barangay Malasibog, Escalante City. At the time of the incident, they were conducting a security patrol.

According to military officials, the patrol’s objective was to sustain peace and development gains within the area. The encounter resulted in injuries to the two service members.

Financial Assistance Provided to Families

In addition to receiving the Wounded Personnel Medal, the 3ID, through MGen. Escanillas, extended financial assistance to the wounded soldiers and their families. This aid is intended to support their household needs and provide necessary assistance during their recovery period.

MGen. Escanillas emphasized the command’s commitment to the welfare of its troops and their families, reiterating that caring for soldiers extends beyond recognizing their courage in the field.

Commander Highlights Sacrifice and Commitment

“The Wounded Personnel Medal is a symbol of the bravery, dedication, and selfless service demonstrated by our soldiers in the face of danger,” MGen. Escanillas stated. He added that their sacrifice would “never go unnoticed.”

He expressed deep gratitude for their commitment to protecting the people and upholding peace in the communities. MGen. Escanillas underscored that the command’s responsibility to its soldiers does not end after an operation.
