A magnitude 3.7 earthquake struck Bogo City in Cebu this morning, creating noticeable tremors felt across northern Cebu. The event took place at 6:32 AM on March 18, 2026, and has raised awareness among residents in the region.

The quake’s epicenter was located just 2 kilometers south of Bogo City at a depth of 7 kilometers, indicating a shallow earthquake that can often be felt more strongly than deeper ones. According to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS), residents reported feeling the earthquake, which might have caused momentary alarm.

Despite being felt in the area, PHIVOLCS has confirmed that no damage is expected from this earthquake. The bureau also indicated that aftershocks are likely to occur following the initial tremor.

Residents are urged to stay alert and practice safety measures during this time. This entails securing loose items in homes and staying indoors during tremors to minimize risks.

As part of ongoing monitoring, earlier seismic activities in the same vicinity include a magnitude 2.2 earthquake reported at 8:14 AM, as well as a magnitude 2.0 tremor recorded at 5:02 AM today. These smaller quakes further suggest heightened seismic activity in the area.

For updated information and safety guidance, the public is advised to follow official announcements and monitor PHIVOLCS at phivolcs.dost.gov.ph.
